Debuting for the 2009 model year, the Chevrolet Traverse has since evolved as a spacious, seven-seat midsize crossover SUV. The 2019 model year finds the Traverse in its second production cycle. Since the previous model year kicked off the second generation of production, the 2019 Traverse has no major changes. However, this model year marks the first time in the vehicle's history that it is marketed as a full-size SUV, rather than the mid-size designation of years past.

(The High Country only has upper shutters.) If you go with the LT trim or higher, Chevrolet adds fog lamps for cutting through hard-to-see situations and turn-signal indicators on the side mirrors. The High Country is unique with its IntelliBeam technology, meaning that the high-beam headlights will automatically turn on and off according to surrounding traffic conditions. While the L, LS, and LT ride on 18-inch alloy wheels, the RS, Premier, and High Country get 20-inch ones.

Even though the 2019 Chevrolet Traverse has three rows of seats, the maximum occupancy varies depending on the trim you go with. The lower-level L and LS include a second-row bench-style seat to max out at eight occupants. The other four trims replace that bench-style seat with a pair of captain's seats to reduce maximum occupancy to seven. Regardless of trim, though, the Traverse provides a standard cargo volume of 23 cubic feet. Fold down the third-row seats, and you will expand the cargo area to 57.8 cubic feet. And if you fold down both the second and third rows, the cargo area is maxed out at 98.2 cubic feet. At the LT trim level, the Traverse is boosted with features such as an 8-way power-adjustable driver's seat with power lumbar support and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. Front-seat heating is introduced at the RS trim level. And the Premier and High Country have second-row seat heating and front-seat ventilation.

Powering all trims of the 2019 Traverse is a 3.6-liter V6, which generates 310 horsepower and 266 lb-ft of torque and is hitched to a 9-speed automatic transmission. Included on the engine is start-stop technology, which means that the engine automatically shuts down when the Traverse comes to a complete stop and turns back on when you ease off the brake pedal. Consequently, the V6 does not unnecessarily consume fuel. The L has standard front-wheel drive and the High Country has standard all-wheel drive; you can choose between the two drivetrains on the other four trims.

Only the High Country gets a following distance indicator, forward collision alert, forward automatic braking, front pedestrian braking, rear cross-traffic alert, rear park assist, and lane keep assist with lane departure warning.
